Fascia is connective tissue that surrounds and supports muscles, organs, and other structures in the body. Sometimes emotional trauma or stressors stored in our body (Fascia) can result in physical symptoms such as tension headaches, neck and shoulder pain or knots, numbness, tingling, stiffness, especially tight hips (psoas muscles), inflammation and overall dysfunction because the memory of trauma is stored in the fascia. Muscle armouring can occur with prolonged exposure to stress and trauma. By targeting and releasing restrictions in the fascia, you can experience many benefits such as Improved Flexibility and Range of Motion, Injury Prevention and Rehab, Pain Reduction, Improved Posture and Alignment, Stress Release and Relaxation, and amplify mental health therapy with increased Mind-Body Connection. Fascial Maneuvers are slow, methodical movements formed by restricting the body in counter rotation, while using breathing. It’s not uncommon to experience emotional releases activated by memories, images or sensations that may arise connected to the fascia points. The stretching movements, when completed with intention, can assist with reducing stress, tension, and pain in the body. Gentle guided breath work will help us drop in and wrap up this body opening session in a group embodied grounding practice.
